Vaporesso XROS Pro Review: A 30W Pod System for MTL/RDL Vapers

Vaporesso XROS Pro Review: A 30W Pod System for MTL/RDL Vapers

Vaporesso is a brand that most vapers know well. While the company has had some ups and downs over the years, its reputation in recent times reflects win after win across a variety of product categories.

This is especially the case for MTL pod systems, with Vaporesso’s XROS range remaining one of the most popular on the market through three generations. But will this trend continue with the brand-new Vaporesso XROS Pro?

Join us as we take a deep dive into the XROS Pro’s features and performance.

The Vaporesso XROS Pro 30W Pod Kit is currently available in our shop and on our online store for £32.99.

What is the Vaporesso XROS Pro 30W Pod System?

The XROS Pro is a new 30W MTL/RDL pod system from Vaporesso. It includes many features found on the Vaporesso XROS 3, including adjustable airflow and a button to provide extra powerful hits, along with a set of new features to go with the increased output wattage. Vaporesso is calling this device “the world’s first super pulse pod system”, promising a device that can continue to produce its peak 30W output until its battery is completely drained.

Vaporesso XROS Pro: What’s in the Box?

vaporesso xros pro unboxed

Like any product, the XROS Pro experience starts with the box it comes in. There isn’t anything spectacular here; it’s very similar to the boxes that XROS 3 devices have come in since their launch. The outer box and inner plastic tray are both recyclable and practically no space is wasted, adding to the XROS Pro’s green credentials compared to disposables.

Inside the box, you get the Vaporesso XROS Pro with a pre-installed 0.4 Ohm pod, a spare 0.4 Ohm pod, a nicely braided USB Type-C cable, and an envelope with all of the paperwork you’d expect with a device like this. Thankfully, you can avoid the instructions for the most part and refer to the removable sticker that ships on the front of the XROS Pro device.

Vaporesso XROS Pro Design & Build Quality

Immediately upon removing the Vaporesso XROS Pro from its box, it’s evident that this device is designed to feel more premium than previous XROS Pod Systems. Most of its body is made from smooth satin metal that is much thicker than the metal found on the XROS 3 or XROS 3 Mini, and its front has a plastic section that houses a small display and the device’s only button.

The layout of the XROS Pro is practically identical to that of the XROS 3. The fire button, airflow control, and USB port are all found in the same places, but the XROS Pro also has a lock switch on its side.

I wasn’t so sure about the orange, black, and silver colouration of the sample XROS Pro we received, but I’ve grown to quite like it the more I’ve used it. The Vaporesso XROS Pro also has six other colours available, including black, silver, blue, red, green, and pink. This means that most people will be able to find an XROS Pro that they like the look of.

When it comes to the XROS Pro’s design and build quality, I only have a couple of concerns. The smallest of these is the thumb pins that you push to lock the device and control its airflow. Only time will tell how long these last, but they’re quite small and I’ve seen similar pins fail on other devices before. For me, I’ll just make sure I’m gentle with them.

Alongside this, the XROS Pods I’ve tested with our XROS Pro don’t feel as secure as the same pods when they’re inside a XROS 3. They wobble a little in all directions, and I’ve accidentally removed the pod while trying to pull the device out of my pocket on a few occasions.

Overall, the build quality and fit and finish of the XROS Pro is excellent. It feels like Vaporesso has put serious work into making this device stand out from the rest of the XROS Series, creating a compact pod system that feels like it will last for years.

Vaporesso XROS Pro: Ease of Use

Ease of use is a priority for many of our customers, especially those looking for a pod system. The Vaporesso XROS Pro is nice and easy to use, but there are a couple of key areas that are worth being aware of, especially if you want to buy the device for someone else.

Vaporesso XROS Pro Pod Filling/Changes

One of the key benefits of a closed pod system like the XROS Pro is that you never have to change coils. Filling your pods is as simple as popping the top off and pushing your bottle through a hole, and you can remove old pods by pulling on them when it’s time for a fresh one.

Vaporesso XROS Pro Controls

Vaporesso XROS Pro control instructions

The XROS Pro features a single button that controls the whole device. If you press and hold this button, the device will fire with slightly more power than it does with draw-activated hits. Alongside this, you can use different numbers of button presses to change the settings on the XROS Pro.

  • 5 Presses: Turn your XROS Pro on or off.
  • 4 Presses: Clear the puff counter on your XROS Pro.
  • 3 Presses: Adjust the mode/wattage of your XROS Pro.
  • 2 Presses: Turn the XROS Pro’s LED indicator on or off.

Once you get used to it, single-button controls like this are quite easy to live with, but less tech-savvy users may struggle with this aspect of the XROS Pro.

This device also has an adjustable airflow slider and a lock slider, both of which are really easy to use; you just slide them. They are quite small, though, so people with limited dexterity may struggle to operate them properly.

Overall, the Vaporesso XROS Pro is very easy to use and the vast majority of users will have no trouble with it.

Vaporesso XROS Pro Performance

xros pro with xros 3 and luxe xr max

Design and build quality are only important if a device can perform well, and the XROS Pro has a lot to live up to in this department. As both an MTL and an RDL pod system, the Vaporesso XROS Pro is not only comparable to options like the XROS 3 or Uwell’s Caliburn range but also to devices like the Vaporesso Luxe X.

So how does the XROS Pro perform compared to other devices on the market?

Important: The New 0.4 Ohm COREX XROS Pods

One of the biggest features of the XROS Pro launch is Vaporesso’s new COREX XROS Pod. At just 0.4 Ohm, this is the most powerful pod ever created for a XROS Pod system, enabling the XROS Pro to run at 30W and work as an RDL vape.

When you use other XROS Pods with the XROS Pro the device will perform exactly like a XROS 3. For this reason, this performance review is focused on the new 0.4 Ohm pods, rather than the full range.

Vaporesso XROS Pro: MTL Performance

Vaporesso’s XROS range has become well-known for its MTL performance, and the XROS Pro is no exception. I’ve found myself mostly using the XROS Pro as an MTL device since I got my hands on it.

The difference between the new 0.4 Ohm XROS pods and the 0.6 Ohm XROS pods I usually use with my XROS 3 Mini is immediately noticeable. The vapour is thicker, warmer, and more flavourful, while still being smooth enough to take large MTL hits with 20mg nic salts.

The only thing I would change about the XROS Pro to improve its MTL performance is its airflow. Even with the airflow fully closed, I find that MTL hits with the Vaporesso XROS Pro are a little airier than I would like.

Vaporesso rates the new 0.4 Ohm COREX XROS Pods at 15W to 30W, and I’ve tested the full range. Down at 15W to 18W, the hit feels reminiscent of the 0.6 Ohm XROS pod on a XROS 3 device. The vape gets warmer and hits harder and harder until you reach the peak 30W output.

I like to set the XROS Pro to 27.5W for MTL vaping with the new 0.4 Ohm XROS Pods.

Vaporesso XROS Pro: RDL Performance

While I use the XROS Pro as an MTL device most of the time, its restricted direct-to-lung capabilities are what make this device exciting. Thanks to its adjustable airflow control and 30W output, the XROS Pro provides excellent restricted direct-to-lung performance for a device so compact.

When opened fully, the airflow on the XROS Pro is loose enough for RDL vaping to be comfortable without letting enough air in to take flavour away from your vape. RDL hits with the XROS Pro are warm, thick, and incredibly flavoursome.

Using the Vaporesso XROS Pro with the new 0.4 Ohm pods and 20mg nicotine salts to take RDL hits at 30W is now my favourite nicotine delivery method. The flavour is great, the throat hit is smooth yet satisfying, and I’ve not been able to produce a burned hit so far, even when abusing my poor XROS Pro.

Vaporesso’s Luxe X pod system offers a good point of comparison for the XROS Pro’s RDL performance. The Luxe X has a larger battery and wider airflow control, while also boasting pods for DTL, RDL, and MTL vaping. Of course, the Luxe X also costs more than the XROS Pro.

For RDL vaping I would choose the XROS Pro over the Luxe X, especially if you want to use high-strength nicotine salts with your device. If you want a solid, compact DTL vape with wide coil/pod availability, the Luxe X is a good choice to get started with.

Vaporesso XROS Pro: Battery Performance

xros pro charging

Battery life is important to any vape user, and this is something Vaporesso seems to have kept in mind while designing the whole XROS range. The XROS Pro features a 1200mAh battery and 2A fast charging.

There are a lot of factors that determine how long your vape battery will last and this can vary dramatically from user to user. I’ve never managed to get my XROS Pro from 100% to 0% in a day, but I tend to carry more than one vape.

As a rough test of battery life, I have charged the XROS Pro to 100%, set the wattage to 27.5W, and opened the airflow entirely. With this configuration, I can take 20+ 2-second RDL hits before the device drops to 99% battery.

Even if the XROS Pro does run out of battery during the day, the device’s 2A USB-C fast-charging means that you can charge it to full in just 35 minutes. The XROS Pro’s screen even shows a handy estimate to tell you how long it needs to charge.

One thing worth noting about the XROS Pro’s battery performance is the seemingly complete lack of voltage drop-off. It seems that Vaporesso’s Super Pulse mode works very well to keep your vaping experience consistent no matter the battery level of your XROS Pro.

Vaporesso XROS Pro: The Verdict

There’s a lot to talk about when it comes to the new Vaporesso XROS Pro, but one question stands out the most: “Would I buy this vape for myself?”

Yes! I would buy the XROS Pro for myself, and I’d also buy it for other people too. I’ve already picked one up to give to my mum to replace her ageing XROS 3 device, but I’ll also pick up a new one for myself once I get bored with the colour of my current device.

Of course, though, it’s worth breaking down the major pros and cons of the XROS Pro so that you can make the right choice for you.

Vaporesso XROS Pro Pros

  • Excellent MTL and RDL performance
  • Premium build quality and design
  • Affordable device and replacement pods
  • Wide replacement pod availability
  • Incredibly fast charging with a clear battery display
  • Physical lock button for extra safety
  • Low price - great value!

Vaporesso XROS Pro Cons

  • Potentially fiddly/confusing controls
  • Loose pod fit with 0.4 Ohm pods
  • Relatively small battery for a 30W vape

As you can see, the potential issues that come with the Vaporesso XROS Pro are minimal compared to the benefits. For the low price of just £32.99 on our store, you can pick up the brand new XROS Pro and receive it the very next day, but why not add some nic salts to go with it?

Vaporesso XROS Pro FAQs

You can always get in touch with us if you want to ask any questions about the products we sell, but these FAQs might have the answers you’re looking for already.

Is the Vaporesso XROS Pro Good?

Yes, we think so. The Vaporesso XROS Pro is a great choice for MTL/RDL vapers who want a premium device without a high cost.

Which XROS Pod is Best?

Vaporesso XROS Pods come in a range of different strengths, starting at 1.2 Ohm. As the resistance drops, the pod provides a higher-power vape, with Vaporesso’s 0.6 Ohm COREX XROS Pod offering the highest wattage in the standard lineup. This is the pod that comes with XROS 3s, XROS 3 Minis, XROS 3 Nanos, and XROS 3 Cubes.

You can also get a 0.4 Ohm XROS Pod, but this only works with the new Vaporesso XROS Pro 30W Pod System.

Are All XROS Pods Compatible?

Vaporesso’s 1.2 Ohm, 1.0 Ohm, 0.8 Ohm, and 0.6 Ohm pods are compatible with the full pod range, including the XROS Pro. The new 0.4 Ohm COREX XROS Pods are only compatible with the new XROS Pro, though.

How Long Should My XROS Pods Last?

Most people change their XROS Pods once every week or two, but everyone is different. Vaporesso states that its XROS Pods provide the best results for the first 20ml of liquid that goes through them (the equivalent of 10 disposables).
